... for being so patient with me! I know it's been a while since I last updated my blog. So sorry for that. Guess I have a lot to explain.

Well... here it goes: First of all: I'm doing fine right now. But my life is a rollercoaster at the moment. Scrapping is not on my mind right now, but I sincerely hope that I will be 'back in business' within a few weeks/months.

About 5 months ago I've made a huge decision for the rest of my life. I left my boyfriend, the father of my child... A difficult decision, but also a good one. The last few months I haven't had a place of my own... I lived at several places. Not an ideal situation. But I took control over my life and I bought a house!!! Isn't that awesome? I just did it! Girlpower, whoohoo! This friday (29th of August) I will get the keys of my own place... I really can't wait! It's a nice place with enough space for me, Julian ánd a real scrapstudio (a small one, but hey: it's a scrapstudio...).

As soon as I'm moved, I will take some pictures to share my place with you all... I promise. Until then, you have to do it with this tiny update. But I'll be back!

Julian is doing fine by the way. It was (and sometimes it still is) a confusing situation for him as well, but he seems to handle it very well... That is our main concern at the moment.

Well... now you all know why I was such a bad blogger. Hope you all do well. Thanks for all the sweet comments and for your concern. It makes me feel good to know that you care!

... it's been a while... AGAIN! Hehe... I guess bloggin' is a bit too much for me right now. But everything is going fine. I really really really love being back to work. I'm too busy to scrap right now. But I made two cards today. Can show you only one, because the other one is for my sister's birthday (on April 2nd). So you have to wait until then...
Made this card for my mom with the Dahlia Folding Technique. It's very easy and I think it looks very beautiful.

Oh... I told you I had a little toot to share, huh? Well... I can reveal the secret now: I'm one of the new Dutch Quickutz DT-members! Isn't that awesome?

Finally...

... here I am again. Oh my... I don't know where to start, but life is so hectic around here lately.

I will start with the news about my voice. Well... what can I say: it's still not ok, but slowly it's improving. So I guess I need to be a very very very patient (and quiet) girl. Yesterday I went to school for a meeting with my boss... I was a little bit scared to go back there, because it's been 4 months since I was there. I'm really happy that I took the step, it was really nice to see all of my colleagues and students. The students really missed me (off course I knew that already, they wrote me lots of cards and sweet notes), so that gave me a good feeling.
Now I will be back in the school for two days a week, but not as a teacher. My voice won't let me do what I love most, so now I'm going to write a new teaching method for my classes (I teach Dutch). I think this is a nice challenge too and I can honestly say thay I'm looking forward to get back to work.

The weekend at my mother's place was great! I really needed that! My mom is such a sweetheart! And Julian adores her (and she adores him ;)). Here's my favorite pic of that week:

I didn't do a lot of scrapping lately, but I can show you something. I made a little quotebook (4"x4") with my new Bind It All. I really LOVE this tool!!!

I also have a nice TOOT to share... but you have to wait a little bit longer for that one...

Finally I will leave you with a picture of me and my adorable little boy, taken last weekend. We spent the weekend with my father's family. It was a great weekend, but also a little bit sad, because my father died almost 4 years ago... but it was so good to see my aunt, uncle, nieces and nephews. We live very far from each other and we do not see each other very often. Some of them never even met Julian in real life. They were in love, that's for sure! ;)

... I'm so sorry! But I really didn't feel well the last couple of weeks... my voice still lets me down and I really need a break! So tomorrow I will be off to Den Helder. Julian and I are going to stay with my mom for a little week. Sunday we'll be back... I promise to visit your blogs next week!

Too bad I'm not home on Valentines Day, but I made Otto a card (off course!). The scan is really not doing justice to the card, but I couldn't get it any better. I used a Pink Cat Studio stamp (Sweet Treats)... doesn't it looks yummie?

Today is the big day: the day that I turn 30! In my opinion 30 sounds sooooo good. This is gonna be my year! This is how a happy 30 year old looks like:

Friday I threw a big party for all my good friends and I had a blast! It felt so good to have all my friends around me. I really felt rich!
I'm really spoiled by my family and friends. Julian made me two beautiful paintings. They are my best gifts ever! :) Don't you think he's a talented boy?

Otto gave me my second Pandora bracelet:

My colleagues also gave me a few spacers and a bead for my bracelet:

And I also received books, a silver vase, chocolate Scrabble and coupons for books and perfume. Ok... I'm off now. Otto's family will stop by for coffe and a homemade cupcake.

Hello my dear bloggin' friends!

Finally I can reveal these two cards. I used them for a call for the first Dutch Quickutz DT. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the DT, but I'm the first runner up and I will be a guest designer a few times... well thats great, huh?
I was very pleased with my cards. What do you think?

I was tagged by Jany and Julie to tell 7 random facts about me... Well... here it goes:

1. I LOVE breakfast! It's my favourite meal of the day. And the most important thing is my cup of tea: 20 herbs by Zonnatura... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
2. I love to eat a sandwich with cheese and a biscuit (beschuit) on top. A lot of people think that's strange, but let me tell you: it's delicious!
3. I'm a vegetarian for almost 20 years now! I was 10 years old when I saw a documentary about the meatindustry. That's when I decided to never eat meat again. :)
4. I never had difficulties with being a vegetarian, accept when I was pregnant... I really wanted a 'rookworst' from the HEMA (but eventually I didn't!)
5. I've got a little birthmark in my neck (under my hair) and Julian has got a birthmark on the same spot! :)
6. When I was a little girl, Madonna was my hero... and when I'm really honest, she still is!
7. I think David Beckham is one of the sexiest men alive! Otto doesn't agree... LOL

Today I finally got to open my Secret Santa Gift Box, which I received a few weeks ago... I've put it away, far out of sight, because otherwise I definetely couldn't leave it unopened...

Glad to be done with that, to be honest. I can't wait to make some regular Birthdaycards or so, hehehe... I made four cards with one of the latest lines by K&Company: Charlotte. Isn't that awesome? It is the second scrapbook line with my name on it (Scenic Route had a Charlotte line also). :) I also used some Bella Baubles on those cards, I think they look super, just like waterdrops!

I found myself a great blog and I joined a group of 20 stampers there: the Sisterhood of Blogging Stampers group number 5! These groups are for giving feedback and sharing friendship. Don't you think that's great? Group 5 is full now, but if you're interested: a new group has started, so join in the fun!

And now for my Sisters, some information about me:
My name is Charlotte, I'm a 29 years old (on the 6th of January I will turn 30!) mother of a beautiful son: Julian (may 5 2005) and I'm a High School teacher. I live in Drachten, a little town in the Netherlands, together with my BF Otto and his 14 year old daughter.

In 2004 discovered scrapbooking and I became a true addict. After a few years, I made my first card. At first, I thought it wouldn't be my 'thing', but now I have to admit: I'm addicted! LOL I love to make cards with stamps (Magnolia, Hanglar Stanglar, etc.), but I also love to use quickutz dies on my cards.

I'm a DT member of Scrap! Magazine, a Dutch scrapbookmagazine. This is something I'm very proud of. :)

Hello everybody!

How are you all doing? Don't you just love all those lights and candles everywhere...? I LOVE Christmas!

I joined the girls of Papertake Weekly and made a Christmascard in white... sorry for the bad scan. In real life, it looks much better! ;)

Last wednesday we celebrated Sinterklaas' birthday. That means looooooooooots of presents for those who were good and sweet last year... in our case: a lot of presents for Julian and Iris... and a few for Otto and me LOL...

Yesterday I decorated the house with the Christmas tree, lights and lots of little angels (I'm in love with angels :)).

Hi everybody!

Long time no bloggin'... well, It's kinda busy over here. But here's a little update. I'm very busy making Christmas cards. Here are a few:

Last week I bought some Christmas postmarks and when you buy 3 sheets, you get an agenda for free. I really didn't like the cover, so I 'pimped' it a little with some K&Company papers and loooooooooooooots of bling bling (I love my bling-tool!):

And finally: my Gratitude Journal. Francine came up with the idea to start a GJ for december... and I really liked that idea! I'm in a special time of my life... I really think a lot about my future and my job these days. Not the most positive thoughts, I can say... So this journal will be about positive things, that's just what I need most right now! I will not show my thoughts, because they are too personal, but I can show you a peek of the album. I used a cd-album (HEMA, I just love that store!) and some bright and happy MME papers, Creative Imaginations (Creative Café) polka dot felt and Quickutz dies:

Well... my voice is still not working properly, so that means I'm still at home and do a loooooooooooooooooooooot of scrappin'! Still working on my Christmas cards... Nancy published a great cardworkshop on her blog, so I had to make one myself! Here's the result. I painted the stars with Ranger crackle paint. Love that stuff! The puffy paint-result is not really great, but hey: you can't have it all, right? Ali Edwards once said to me (at a workshop that she was teaching): embrace imperfection! Those words are so very true, I think I will never forget them...

A card, a sneak and a layout

I'm doing a card-twinswap at the Dolls Messageboard. I had to make a card for Heleen and she has to make a card for me with the same stuff that I used on her card... First I made this Hello-card, but I didn't use it for the swap, because I'm not sure if Heleen has a Glitter Glamour (bling)tool... so I keep it for another occasion...

Tomorrow we (my sister, her husband, Otto and me) are going to surprise my mom, because she turned 65 yesterday! She doesn't have any clue of where we are taking her... but It's going to be awesome! ;)

Ok, off to bed now... I have no voice at the moment, so I need to keep my mouth shut the whole day... and that is soooooooooooooo hard for me! :S So I need to avoid the people around me... otherwise I'll never get my voice back...

Today I made a layout for Fauve. We are doing a photoswap, but I will not show my layout until Fauve is ready... so I leave you with a sneak! :)

I also made a card for a challenge on Nancy's blog. My mother is turning 65 next week and this card is for her. Hope she likes it... ;)

Last week Otto and I pimped our living room. We painted the walls (white) and I stripped our dinnertable (peel off the upper layer). We also have more of Otto's paintings in our livingroom now. We are very happy with the result. I'm very curious to hear what you think of it... :)

Yesterday I went to Wendy's house for a fun day full of scrapping! I so love those days! I did a LOT in one day: I made a spread for a Circle Journal, two layouts for myself ;) ánd a card for Margot.
For this layout I used the Scenic Route papers which I finally gave myself as a present. I was inspired by the PERFECTLY CLEAR BOOK by Autumn Leaves. Love that book!!! :

For this layout, I was inspired by this sketch blog (sketch #5). I used some bling bling cardstock by Bazzill (love that stuff!) and more Scenic Route papers. Too bad the colors don't come out as in real life:

MLS June challenge

This months MLS challenge was to make a 6"x12" layout. A real fun thing to do!

Last friday, a colleague got married. He is one of my favorite colleagues, so I decided to make him (and his wife) something special. It turned out to be this little project made of matchboxes. We collected some money with a couple of colleagues and in every drawer I put some money.

Boy, it's really a very very busy time here. We're almost at the end of the schoolyear and that means a lot of things to finish and ofcourse a LOT of meetings... :S Didn't do a lot of scrapping the last couple of weeks. But I will make it up when I'm free (7 weeks of vacation... did you hear me complaining? hehehe).

Today we had a special day at Julian's daycare. It was all about the Circus today. So I tried to give my little boy a clownsface. Very difficult to keep him from rubbing his nose/mouth/cheeks LOL. But he looked soooo cute! Here are a few shots of my little Bumba:

Coaster album & Scrap! magazine

I made a coaster album about a visit to my sister with the latest Crate line: Samantha. I just love those beautiful papers ánd... it's the first time I used purple in my work. Usually I don't like purple, but with these papers, I couldn't resist using purple ink! I like the results, so maybe I will use this color more often... :)

As promised, here are the projects I made for Scrap! Magazine. The layouts are made with Making Memories Sydney. I love the look of this line... it really fits by those old family pictures. The mini-album is made with transparancy's and chipboard letters (the outlining) by Making Memories. So there are two sorts of pages: transparant and chipboard. I totally love the outcoming of this album! Can't wait to have it in my hands again!

Dreamer and some sneaks

Finally did some scrapping last week. I finished my MLS June challenge, but I can't show you that one until the end of June...
But I scrapped something for myself too, sometimes it feels like I can't do anything for myself, but only for an assignment... so I really enjoyed making this layout. I love the picture of Julian. He looks a lot like my dad when he has a 'thinking' face like that! I made the lo with the new Crate Paper Samantha line and with an old sheet of Crate (the background).

And finally, I will leave you with some sneak peaks of my layouts in the new issue of Scrap! magazine... It will probably be in store today, so go check it out. I also made an incredible mini-album, but I won't show some sneaks of that, but it will reveal too much. I will publish my assignments as soon as Scrap! is available in all stores! to share this time! It's been a few very busy weeks at work, so I didn't scrap a lot. But I made a layout for the new Dutch Dare, hosted by Monique Verbeek! Sorry for the bad picture, I can't get it straight...

For the May Challenge of Memory Lane, I made this MDF letter for the door of Julian's room... I used some fab Daisy D's papers, a blue dabber and chipboard letters. See here to see what the other girls came up with.

Yesterday, I made a card for friends who bought their first house together. I made the foam shapes (my own thickers!) with the Studio Alphabet and my Quickutz squeeze. I am very happy with the result!

This layout is made a few weeks ago and is based on a sketch from Ali Edwards' patterned paper book:

And finally I will leave you with a picture of my sweet little boy Julian! Last week, he and his daddy went for a walk. And when they came home, they brought me some beautiful flowers. Isn't he adorable!

I did some serious shopping today! Together with Otto, Iris and Julian, I went to Leeuwarden, my favourite city in Friesland! I bought some fab shoes, cute green boots a nice bag and some more stuff. I didn't take pictures of everything, but I wanted to share the shoes, boots and bag with you all! :)

I also want to share this layout. I made it for a challenge on Birgit's blog. I didn't win, but still I think it's worth sharing... :) TFL!

Don't you just love those selfmade presents of your kids? Julian gave me a beautiful little wooden box with heartshaped candy. He painted the box himself! A real artist, don't you think?

Otto gave me two beads for my Pandora bracelet: one capricorn (me) and one taurus (Julian). And now I'm waiting for my breakfast in bed... I am such a lucky woman.

... did some scrapping this week. Last weekend I bought a fantastic felt album (8.5" x 11") at MemoryLane Scrapbooking. I used MME Magnolia paper, AC thickers and the new Uni Posca Pens... men, those pens are tha bomb! This is the first layout I made in this size:

We've had a tough week... wednesday we heard that an ex-student of our school was found dead in her bed... murdered... I can't believe it! She was only 19 years old... not fare! She was in my class, 5 years ago. Such a sweet girl! After such devastating news, I realised (again) that I have to live NOW... Carpe Diem!

Oh my... what a beautiful weekend it was! I really had a summer feeling! We bought some lovely shoes (Teva) for Julian, together with some short pants and T-shirts...

Today, after the BBQ, Julian got his bath in the garden. And he loved it!

Today is April 1st, that means that I began with an important journey: Finding ME! I will join Corinne Delis with the Finding You workshop. Today we've got our first assignment. I'm very sorry, but I can't share anything about this workshop, because it is very personal. The only thing I can show you, is the cover of my album...

I used a Xenos album and covered it with Basic Grey paper (phoebe). The big blue flower and the pink thickers are available now at Memory Lane Scrapbooking!

I finished my projects for the new Scrap! magazine last weekend and I'm very statisfied with the results... :) But unfortunately you have to wait till june 2nd... :)

So there's nothing to show you right now, that's why I thought I'd pick up a 'goldie oldie' from my stash...

This beautiful little minibook was also published in the first Scrap! magazine, but It didn't come out so good... that's why I wanted to show it again.

Here's my 7th card of my Deck of Me. I'm a little bit behind, but I will catch up later. This time I had to say what I miss... well that's an easy one for me: my dad died almost 3 years ago and I miss him every day... sorry for the blurry pics.

I've made a minibook about our visit to the ZOO at January 1st. I can't show all yet, but here's a sneak peak. I used the stamps of the Get Inspired Kit. Absolutely love them!!!

Yesterday I had a scrapdate with Wendy. I made two canvas collages, inspired by the wonderfull Claudine Hellmuth. I'm very pleased with the results (especially with the collage about Julian). I used canvas, masking tape, mod podge, acryllic paint, stazon, stamps, rub-ons, patterned paper, stickles, permapaque markers and a black fineliner.

I also made 2 cards for the Deck of Me challenge by Emily Falconbridge. Really love this little challenges! I used cardstock, patterned paper, stazon, stamps, Hambly overlay, quickuts alphabet Moxie and die set shoes...

We had to make a mini project, so I made a little 'photo-holder' with two pieces of cardboard, cardstock, distress ink (Ranger), stamps, quickutz heart, Heidi Swapp ghost flower, button, rub-ons (Hambly and Basic Grey), stickers, stickles and UTEE... the size of the holder is 9x9 cm (3.5 x 3.5 inch).

Did some scrapping today. I made a 'painting' using a technique out of the book by Claudine Hellmuth (Collage Discovery Workshop).

I used MDF, acrylic paint, vaseline, acrylic medium,stazon, Autumn Leaves stamps, stickers, chipboard shapes (K&Company), ribbon and buttons.

Afgelopen zondag had ik een vrouwendag met alle vrouwen van Otto's familie. Boukje en ik hebben een workshop Paperbag Album gegeven en het was een groot succes!

Voor het afscheid van mijn stagiaire heb ik een klein boekje gemaakt, waarin alle leerlingen een boodschap/tekening konden maken. Ik heb gebruik gemaakt van een stempel en Paint Dabbers... geweldige uitvinding! MLS verkoopt ze ook!

Geboortekaartje en Art Journal

Een kennis van me is 7 januari (net niet op mijn verjaardag) bevallen van een dochter: Jildou. Ik heb voor haar een kaartje gemaakt:

Daarnaast ben ik begonnen aan een nieuwe challenge, opgestart door Emily Falconbridge. Hierbij maak je een deck of you van een kaartspel met 52 kaarten. Elke kaart staat voor één week, dus in totaal duurt de challenge een jaar. De eerste twee challenges zijn al op Emily's blog geplaatst, dus haast je en doe mee! Het zijn maar kleine projectjes, dus prima te doen elke week! Ik heb gisteravond een vilten zakje in elkaar genaaid en ik vind het resultaat errug gaaf!

Drukke week gehad...

Jeetje mina, de vakantie is alweer voorbij... vooral de laatste week is errug snel gegaan. Otto en ik zijn er even lekker 2 nachtjes tussenuit geweest. De laatste keer dat we dat hadden gedaan is alweer 3 jaar geleden, dus het werd hoog tijd! LOL We zaten in een heel leuk hotel in Otterlo: hotel Kruller. We zijn de eerste dag naar het Kröller Muller museum geweest en de tweede dag naar Amsterdam. We hebben de auto geparkeerd bij Daphne in de straat en zijn van daaruit met de metro naar de stad gegaan. Eerst hebben we bij Daphne gezellig een kopje koffie gedronken en daarna zijn Otto en ik naar Bodies, the Exhibition geweest. Ik kan het iedereen aanraden, écht super interessant!

Gisteren was ik jarig. Ik ben 29 geworden... volgend jaar dus het magische getal 30 :). Het was een hele drukke dag, maar wel gezellig. Ik werd 's morgens vroeg al verwend met een zangkoor (Otto, Iris en Julian) én een ontbijtje op bed:

Daarna kreeg ik cadeaus: een zak snoep van Iris en een pandora armband (mijn tweede) met 2 stoppers en een hele mooie rood/wit gestipte bedel van Otto... ik was er helemaal stil van!

Vandaag de laatste hand gelegd aan mijn opdrachten voor de nieuwste Scrap! én ik heb mijn inzending voor Dare #5 afgemaakt. Hij is erg grappig geworden, al zeg ik het zelf! Hier alvast een voorproefje:

En tenslotte heb ik nog een leuke fotokubus gemaakt voor mijn moeder, in opdracht van Memory Lane Scrapbooking. Ik moet nog even mooiere foto's maken bij daglicht, maar het idee moet zo duidelijk zijn... :)

Check de winkel van MLS ook even uit, trouwens. Er is weer nieuwe Hambly binnen!

Vandaag zijn we met het hele gezin (inclusief Beppe én een vriendinnetje van Iris) naar het Noorder Dierenpark in Emmen geweest. Het was een superleuke dag. Julian heeft echt genoten! Hieronder een paar sfeerplaatjes:

Opening Simpel Scrappen

Gisteren ben ik samen met Wendy naar Den Helder geweest. Carla (van Simpel Scrappen) heeft een nieuw pand in gebruik genomen en wij waren natuurlijk razend nieuwsgierig hoe het was geworden. Nou, dat hebben we geweten! We zijn weer helemaal blut de winkel uitgekomen... maar het was het bezoekje meer dan waard... de winkel is super!

Hieronder een paar foto's van mijn aankopen (een gedeelte ervan, de rest is voor de vrouwendag en moet nog geheim blijven).

... van een mini album! Daphne en ik hadden tijdens onze eerste meet afgesproken dat wij ook eens een mini album moesten maken. Ik ben dan ook enthousiast aan de slag gegaan en het begin is er. Helaas is het op mijn werk te druk om 'm helemaal af te maken, maar na morgen heb ik lekker 2 weken vakantie en dan probeer ik 'm af te maken. Hier alvast een kleine impressie...

... of a mini-album. Daphne and I spoke about it at our first meeting: we needed to make more mini-albums. And so I did! This is the beginning, it's too busy right now to finish this project, but after tomorrow I will have two weeks off and have lots of scraptime! I hope I can finish it in those two weeks...

I also made a spread for a Circle Journal at Dolls & Decorations.

And last, but not least: I got my new assignments for Scrap! magazine and I can tell you all: it will be great again!

Jeetje, ik zie dat ik al ruim een week niet heb geblogged... ik schaam me diep! De laatste 3 dagen heb ik met een zware migraine-aanval op bed gelegen, maar vandaag ben ik weer helemaal mijn oude zelf...

Afgelopen zondag hebben we een lunch gehad met de dames van MLS het was voor velen van ons de eerste keer dat we elkaar live zagen. Maar volgens mij hebben we een erg leuk team! Het is geen moment stilgeweest! LOL

Het is trouwens wel de moeite waard om even op de site van MLS te kijken. De overlays en rub-ons van Hambly zijn binnen en ze zijn in één woord GEWELDIG!

Als je dan toch aan het surfen bent, kijk dan ook meteen even bij de Dutch Dares. Dare #2 is geplaatst en hij is weer meer dan leuk!

New Camera

Ik wilde al een tijd een nieuwe fotocamera hebben. Otto had onze camera vaak mee naar zijn werk en bovendien wilde ik een kleinere camera hebben, die ook makkelijk in mijn handtas past. Na veel gespeur op kieskeurig, ben ik gisteren de stad ingeweest. Uiteindelijk ben ik uitgekomen bij de Canon Power Shot A530:

Hij maakt echt hele mooie foto's! Ik moet alles nog wel even op mijn gemakje bestuderen, maar ik ben er helemaal blij mee! Hier nog even een foto van mijn knapperd (mét de nieuwe camera geschoten):

I wanted to have a new camera for a while now. Otto often took our camera to his work and above that I wanted to have a smaller cam that easily fitted in my purse. After comparing a lot of cameras, I went shopping yesterdag. I bought a Canon Power Shot A530. The cam makes beautiful pictures (look at the pic of my beautiful son...)! I still have to learn a lot about it, but for now I'm so happy with it!
